Guidelines for our Teachers

Teachers expect parents to be involved in their child’s educational development. This is important in early childhood where children need their parent’s involvement in certain activities such as creative projects. Teachers play a special role in the students' lives. As they get older, it influences their academic and social development in many positive ways.

Our teachers send welcoming letters to students entering our school for the first time in hopes of building a special bond and closeness between school and home. Being aware of the child's "family configuration" help the teacher and the child. Educating children about different family arrangements and cultures are beneficial. It is important for children to understand and respect different family arrangements and cultures without any misjudgment. After being informed, the teacher can set up different types of involvement which is suitable for different family situations. When parents realize that the teachers are trying to work with them and understands their situations, it encourages parents to be more actively involved in their child's education.

At Immanuel Genius, we hold regular workshops for our teachers about parent involvement in education. The primary objective for these workshops is to train our teachers to overcome various problems. In order to help our teachers, we have teachers' meeting ahead of parents-teacher conference to accomplish effective and clear communication. We teach and train teachers about our student’s ethnical backgrounds and cultural differences and how to create a welcoming atmosphere. Moreover, after each activity, teachers make a rubric for themselves to help them evaluate their lessons and make sure our students are receiving the full benefits of each activity. This prevents bigger barriers and confusion and mishaps and makes the parent feel as if the teacher does care to give undivided attention. Our goal is to promote clear and honest communication and present a feeling of warmth to the parents.
