Ballet & Jazz Dance

The physical education program emphasizes the belief that urban children need space to run and time to move. That is why all our students participate in coeducational physical activities. Our goal is for our students to develop cooperative skills by playing together, as well as developing athletic skills.

Immanuel Genius introduces our young students to the exciting world of dance. They enjoy learning tap, ballet, musical theater and tumbling from our talented and experienced teachers. These classes are filled with fun, excitement, and the joy of learning! Preschool Ballet/Tap Combo is an introductory lesson plan based on creative movement and the fundamentals of ballet and tap dance. It emphasizes the students to be poised, build their self-esteem, and strengthen their bodies through movement.

Tae kwon do

Tae Kwon Do is a very good sport for children. They learn to respect each other and know their physical abilities through games and other forms of activities. Tae Kwon Do strives to develop many positive aspects of an individual’s personality such as respect, courtesy, goodness, trustworthiness, loyalty, humility, courage, patience, integrity, perseverance, and self-control. It allows the children to improve mental discipline, emotional equanimity, and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and others.

Art & Craft

Art builds on previously acquired skills, introduces new techniques and media, and develops freedom of self-expression in each student. A wide variety of projects are included in the art program and a range of media and forms may be used within each category. We feature different artists' works throughout the year, followed by a class discussion and often a project inspired by that artist. Some projects revolve around other classroom curriculum.

Curricular goals include:

• encouraging creative expression
• improving upon artistic skills
• introducing basic art history and art appreciation
• experiencing visual excitement

Chess

Chess, known as the Royal Game is a recreational and competitive game. Chess game makes students think and analyze and create new ideas to compete. Children will be challenged to explore every game with different partners.

The final project will be a CD containing multiple logo designs and featuring a CD cover created by the student. Finally for their master pieces, the students learn computer graphics by making calendars with their own family pictures. It makes student feel they are having fun and learning at the same time. New skills will enhance the student's creativity. This activity is recommended for 3rd Graders.
